Photo Travel Definition

A Photo Travel slide, print or digital image must express the feeling of a time and place, portray a land, its people, ora culture in its natural state, and has no geographical limitations. Ultra close-ups which lose their identity, studio-type model shots, or photographic manipulations that misrepresent the true situation or alter the content of the image are unacceptable in Photo Travel competition.
No pictorial elements may be moved, cloned, added, deleted, rearranged or combined. No manipulation or modification is permitted except resizing, cropping, selective lightening or darkening, sharpening, and restoration of original color to the scene. Any adjustments must appear natural.

People of the World Definition

People of the World is a Photo Travel slide, print or digital image that shows people engaged in everyday "At Work" and "At Play" activities in interesting and unique ways which depict a sense of action or motion. Close-ups are discouraged due to inadequate Photo Travel stories. "At Play" images should not include sports photography unless they portray a Photo Travel story of people actively engaged in a sport unique to a region or culture.

Submitting Entries

Prior to shipping your prints you must complete the on-line Print Entry Form. This filled-in form must be mailed with the prints to the address indicated on the Entry Form. After you have carefully read these "information and instructions", click here to fill out the Print Entry Form and email it to yourself to print it out to include with the prints. You will receive a separate email for each section you enter. Both must be included with your prints if you enter both sections.

A check box is provided on the Print Entry Form to give permission to destroy the prints after the Exhibition. Entrants giving this permission must sign the emailed Entry Form and can pay fees based on the Non-Return Fees above. All other entrants must pay fees based on the Return Fees above.

All prints must be shipped unmounted and flat regardless the country of origin. Stiffeners are recommended to prevent damage during shipping. Unless you elected the Non-Return option, prints should be packaged so the shipping materials can be reused to return the prints to you.

General Conditions and Rules
Maker's Name: The maker's name and/or image title shall not be in the image area, or in any other area visible to the judges, of any digital files, slides or prints. Only pressure sensitive labels may be used on the backs of unmounted prints to prevent bleed-through of the ink.

Original Image Statement: Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of object via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own and permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This may include low resolution posting on a web site. The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. Images may be altered, either electronically or otherwise, subject to divisional restrictions, by the maker and artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates. All final work must be on photographic film, digital file, on photographic print material or digital print material, mounting excepted.

Previously Accepted Images: An image previously accepted in any PSA International Photo Travel Division section, regardless of media, is not eligile for entry in any Photo Travel Division section of the 2009 PSA International.

Duplicate Images: The same image may not be submitted in more than one Photo Travel Section of the 2009 PSA International regardless of the media. This means images submitted in either Photo Travel Print section may not be submitted in the other Photo Travel Print section nor in either of the Photo Travel Dual Projection sections. Please note: Different images using the same title will be considered the same image.

Emails: Filled-in Print Entry Forms and Report Cards will be sent to entrants via email from the Chairman Email Address above. Please be sure that this email address has been included in your "safe" email addresses to assure receipt of these emails instead of having them blocked by your security system.

Exhibition Is Open: The exhibition is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to the exhibition rules and conditions.
Deadline for Receipt of Entries: August 10, 2009
